LEHIGH COUNTY
The Formation of Lehigh County, PA The area known as Lehigh Co.,
PA was first settled by the white people around 1720. At that time
the present day Counties of Lehigh, Northampton and Bucks were all part
of Bucks Co. Bucks County was established in 1682 as one of the
original counties, and the County Seat was established at Doylestown. In
1752
Northampton County was formed from the upper portion of Bucks County. The
County seat was established at Easton. In 1812 Lehigh County was
formed from the Western half of Northampton County, and the County Seat
was established at Allentown.
